This
is the third and last volume of the African musical trilogy recorded
between 1995 and 1998,
a colourful journey of sounds,
inspired equally
by the vast desert areas of the Sahara to the vividly inhabited tropical
rainforest.
The
journey started 1977 in Algeria - then truly the most magnificent country
on earth -
and ended 1998 in ZAIRE -
a country today renamed to CONGO.
During these 20 years chaotic turmoil has overwhelmed this beautiful
heart of Africa.
Fundamentalist Islamic ideas have riddled Algeria,
separatist incentives of the Touareg people
clashed the Sahel along
the river Niger,
and lastly the deployment of the criminal Zairean empire
coincided
with colossal ethnic migrations and killings:
The death of Africa 'Sometimes in April' - marked by the Ruanda Desaster of 1994.
Chaos
endangers the entire continent where mankind once evolved and left behind
an illusion
from which there is no way out.
Just some samples of sand
and the beautiful flowers of the Bougainvillea species is all that remains.
May the power of music help to eternally conserve the African spirit. Düsseldorf,
April 1998 and again in November 2003
